  • Seven Tempe complexes had 100 or more loud party calls over 2 years.
  • March is usually the noisiest month.
  • Most of the complexes cater to students.

College students aren't known for being quiet.

922 Place had the second most number of loud-party calls in Tempe over the past two years.

But the blasting hip-hop that is music to one student's ears may not be appreciated by another trying to study for a chemistry exam.

Citywide, loud-party calls to Tempe police have been on the decline, but seven apartment complexes logged 100 or more calls to police over the past two years, 2013 and 2014.

Eight of the 10 complexes with the most loud-party calls were members in 2013 or 2014 of Arizona State University's Good Neighbor Program, an agreement where complexes pay to get exclusive access to campus twice a year at housing fairs, a spot on the university's website and direct-mail advertising sent by ASU to students.

Apartment complex managers said they take steps to try to prevent loud parties.

"We don't want students to think they can't party where they live, but there is a limit to the partying," said Naajidah Mustafaa, community manager at College Town Tempe.
