What the Friday: Deadbeats and crybabies

Today on What the Friday we talk about deadbeats, neglectful guardians and crybabies.

Dysfunctional family? Worse. It's Arizona politics.

The Legislature continues to skip out on paying for public schools, despite several years of court rulings against it. This week, settlement talks reached an impasse over whether to obey a judge’s ruling that the schools are owed $331 million this year.

Meanwhile, an investigation released this week into rioting at a private prison suggests that public safety was compromised by prison operators who cut corners to boost profits.

And then Superintendent of Public Instruction Diane Douglas managed to transform a state school board meeting into a preschool temper tantrum, even calling in the cops to report her arm being grabbed.

Forget roads, schools and health care. Can we get an emergency supply of pacifiers?
