The State Route 101 ramp to Interstate 10 is closed.

Interstate 10 eastbound was re-opened at Loop 101 in the West Valley after a serious accident closed the freeway for most of the early morning Friday.

Traffic continued to be backed up as far back as Dysart Road.

At about 2:30 a.m., a Dodge Charger collided with a van on Interstate 10 near 91st Avenue while traveling at a high rate of speed, officials with the Department of Public Safety said.

The Charger rolled over as both vehicles went off the road, seriously injuring the driver of the first vehicle. Both drivers were transported to local hospitals. There was no word on the condition either driver.

DPS believed alcohol may have been a factor in the collision, but investigations are still ongoing, officials said.

The collision closed Interstate 10 eastbound from 91st Avenue to 83rd Avenue. The Loop 101 southbound ramp to I-10 eastbound was also closed for several hours.
