The pool is packed with nude bodies as skinny dippers from all over the nation try to break the record for largest number of skinny dippers at Shangri La Ranch in New River on Saturday, July 11, 2015.

On Saturday, many metro Phoenix residents jumped into pools to cool off in the triple-digit summer weather.

Up north at the Shangri La Ranch in New River, many people did it minus the swimsuits.

Over 200 people, ranging from kids to seniors, participated in the clothing-optional resort's skinny-dipping-record attempt at noon, part of the American Association for Nude Recreation's 40th annual Nude Recreation Week.

No word on whether the record was broken is expected until next week.

"It doesn't matter if we break the record. Everybody came out for a great purpose, great cause, everybody worked together and we all had fun doing it," said Cyndi Faber.

The event had a jovial atmosphere. At 11:55 a.m., as music played, organizers instructed everyone into the pool. When noon hit, the official Shangri-La Ranch photographer snapped a photo of the group from the roof.

They were joined by thousands across the country all in an attempt to break the organization's 2009 record of 13,648 skinny dippers.

The attempt is not sanctioned by "Guinness World Records" — that would be difficult because Guinness officials would have to be at every location.
