14 great July 4th parties, drink specials around Phoenix

Talking Stick Resort will host Release Pool Parties on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The Fourth of July is on Saturday this year, which means you can pack your day with a pool party, barbecue, fireworks and party at night, then spend all day Sunday recovering.

Many bars and restaurants are offering themed-drink specials and good old-fashioned American dishes, and other places are hosting big bashes.

Here are some of our favorite parties and deals:

TJR and Borgeous at Maya

Scottsdale's slick beach club hosts two bashes for the July 4 weekend. On Friday night, EDM producer TJR will perform with an opening set by DJ Soloman. Florida-based DJ Bourgeous will perform for the daytime pool party Saturday.

Release Summer Pool Parties

These have quickly become a popular destination for big-name DJs and an upbeat crowd. For the July 4 weekend, record label Panda Funk presents Deorro and a number of other DJs on Friday.

Fourth of July Weekend at the W Scottsdale

Kick off the weekend Friday with a nautical-themed party featuring DJ Mark Farina at the sleek Wet Deck at the posh Scottsdale hotel. On Saturday, do more pool partying during the day, and in the evening, Brooke Evers will hit the turntables. A fireworks show will start at 9 p.m. Head back to the pool Sunday for a relaxing dip.

Bottled Blonde

The beer garden features a great patio and plenty of room to hang out with friends on the holiday, featuring a $10 brat and bottled Blonde Ale deal running all day. Stick around in the evening when the venue turns into a bustling nightclub.

RnR

The Old Town Scottsdale bar and restaurant is a popular spot for day drinking, and the perfect venue to grab drinks before watching fireworks or hitting up the clubs. RnR will offer $3 PBR tall-boy cans, $8 PBJs (a PBR beer and a shot of Jameson whiskey) and $5 Red, White and Blue Margaritas.

America, F**k Yeah! 4th of July Party at Tongue Tied

DJs Roya and Funkfinger get patriotic with their monthly dance party, this time featuring pie-eating and costume contests, face and body painting, a photo booth, cheap drinks and a barbecue. The organizers also will be raffling off items and giving out free swag, such as apple pie, lollipops, condoms and holiday decor.

The chic gastropub has some fun with its Independence Day menu, serving an applewood-smoked bacon corn dog and a 16-ounce PBR in a brown-bag koozie, each for $12. Also, bartenders will be slinging the popular Rubber Ducky shots all night.

Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grill

Nothing quite says America like country music, beer and barbecue. Get all three and more at this newly opened spot in High Street (formerly City Center North), which will host a Backyard Redneck BBQ Party featuring $5 American Girl cocktails, the American Soldier cheeseburger, pulled-pork and beef brisket. Local country artist Laura Walsh will perform.

Hi-Fi Kitchen and Cocktails

The retro-themed spot in downtown Scottsdale will have lots of specials, including $12 for ribs and potato salad, $9 Baselon brats and potato salad, $12 wings, $6 for bananas foster or strawberry shortcake, $20 for bottomless Red, White and Blue Mimosas, and $6 Firecracker drinks.

Whiskey Row and El Hefe

The Riot Hospitality Group bars will be a part of the July 4 festivities. The popular country bar Whiskey Row in Scottsdale will host a big patio barbecue Friday, July 3. On

Head to El Hefe's Tempe location for the party after the big fireworks show at the Tempe Town Lake Festival.

Star-Spangled Hammered

The Mill Avenue country-themed bar will feature a dunk tank, hot-dog-eating competition, barbecue, a "redneck pool," confetti show and photos with "Drunkle Sam." Patrons also receive $3 off any food purchased.

Get here early for a front-row seat to Westgate Entertainment District's Firework Fest. Starting at 10 p.m., Reserve a spot for VIP happy hour with such specials as $2 drafts, $3 mixed cocktails and margaritas, and $4 you-call-it drinks. Calico Jack's and many other restaurants at Westgate will be doing grab-and-go deals so you can bring your food out to the plaza while you enjoy the fireworks. Their deal is $6 for two tacos, chips and a drink.

The Palomar Hotel's rooftop Lustre Bar and pool hosts parties all weekend featuring music from the Foster Brothers Band and DJ Kim E. Fresh, Tito's cocktails including the Pickle Back and Moscow Mule, and a great view of the fireworks from Chase Field on the pool deck.
