Letter: GOP ballot fears are just plain crazy

Andrew March

Who's afraid of "ballot harvesting?" Republicans like Robert Robb ("Let voters decide ballot harvesting").

Rather than directly outlaw the practice, the Legislature should refer it to voters.

This "invitation to fraud" has never had an RSVP. Election fraud (ballot stuffing or disposing of legitimate ballots) is already illegal. If you find it, put the perpetrators in jail. But there have been no credible reports, no arrests, no convictions and no stolen elections.

Terrified Republicans don't need legislation or a referral to the voters. This is an irrational fear of a demonstrable falsehood, the textbook definition of a paranoid delusion, which is the defining characteristic of psychosis.

Don't reinforce their delusion: treat it with appropriate medication.
