Letter: Arizona’s image? We support the military

Gov. Doug Ducey recently hired an advertising firm to help rebuild Arizona’s image nationally. While this created plenty of opportunities for jokes about our state, I want Arizona’s image to be one where we are seen as the leader in supporting our military and veteran communities.

We have a war hero in Sen. John McCain. We are home to the F-35 fighter jet, which will lead our military for generations to come. We have one of the nation’s largest veteran populations, and as seen with the VA scandal, have media outlets who will ask the tough questions to make sure they are cared for. We are an international base for military training.

These are all points of pride for our state, and something we should stand for.
