Diamondbacks' Curt Schilling pitches to a Florida Marlins batter during the first inning Friday, July 28, 2000, at Pro Player Stadium in Miami.

Former Diamondbacks pitcher Curt Schilling went after Twitter trolls in a blog post on Sunday, and a difference has already been made.

Schilling called out two Twitter users after they made vulgar and threatening posts about his daughter, Gabby, after Curt had congratulated her on a college commitment for softball.

In his blog, Schilling wrote that in "the real world you get held accountable for the things you say and if you are not careful that can mean some different things."

He was right.

One of the men who sent out the offensive tweets is Sean MacDonald. Yankees communication director Jason Zillo told NJ.com that MacDonald has been fired from his position as a part-time ticket seller.

"We have zero tolerance for anything like this," Zillo said to NJ.com. "We've terminated him."

The other man is Adam Nagel, a student at Brookdale Community College. Nagel has been suspended, awaiting the results of a disciplinary hearing. The school also released a statement on its Facebook page.

Students and community members have rightfully expressed concerns regarding recent social media comments made by a Brookdale student.

The Twitter comments posted by this student are unacceptable and clearly violate the standards of conduct that are expected of all Brookdale students.

The student has been summarily suspended and will be scheduled for a conduct hearing where further disciplinary action will be taken. The Brookdale Police are actively investigating this matter. Brookdale takes this behavior very seriously and does not tolerate any form of harassment.

Our sincerest apologies to Gabby Schilling. Her achievement should be celebrated and not clouded by offensive comments.

Like Schilling said, this is the real world, and it only takes 140 characters to ruin a career.
