Salt Restaurant & Wine Bar in Lakeside is not your typical mountain-town wood-paneled steakhouse.

There's a little something for just about every interest in the White Mountains communities of Pinetop-Lakeside, Show Low and Hon-Dah. You can find upscale or casual dining, outdoor activities galore from Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Area to Sunrise Park Resort, and lodging choices including hotels, condos and cabins. Here are things to do on your next visit.

Eat

One of Pinetop-Lakeside's newest eateries matches sleek decor with an eclectic, upscale menu. This is not your typical mountain-town wood-paneled steakhouse.

Try the tandoori-spiced Australian lamb or the cheeseburger stuffed with fontina cheese. Or order for a glass of wine and munch your way through the appetizer list. Choices include mussels with coconut milk and basil, a charcuterie board, an artisan cheese board, pork belly and an apple and fennel salad.

There are farmers markets all over the Valley, but how many include an art walk? More importantly, how many of them will have temperatures low enough to keep chocolate in a solid form all summer? Show Low's Farmers Market and Art walk has an excellent mix of fresh food, art and mild weather. It runs every Saturday through Sept. 26.

Details: 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, May 30. Festival Marketplace, Cooley Street between Ninth and 11th streets, Show Low. Free. 928-532-2680, www.showlowfarmersmarket.com.
