Prescott police say that they have arrested a man suspected of leaving a simulated explosive device at the front door of an Arizona Department of Child Safety building in Prescott.

According to police, a man left the device at the building on Oct. 2, 2014. The buildings in the area were evacuated for a few hours, but technicians from the Arizona Department of Public Safety determined that the device was fake.

As part of their investigation, Prescott police collected DNA and other evidence. Rhett Underwood, 36, of Prescott was taken into custody in the Payson area after a warrant was issued for his arrest Tuesday.

The U.S. Marshall's Office, Payson Police Department and the Gila County Sheriff's Office contributed to the arrest, according to Prescott police.
