1. Water ski (bring your own boat!) at Lyman Lake State Park, 11 miles south of St. Johns on U.S. 191. $7 entrance fee, $20-$33 for campsites, $65 for cabins. 928-337-4441.

2. Bring your fishing pole and catch a bass while camping at Alamo Lake State Park, 38 miles north of Wenden on Alamo Dam Road. $7 entrance fee, $15-$25 for campsites fee, $65 for cabins. 928-669-2088.

3. Swim, slip and slide at Slide Rock State Park, 7 miles north of Sedona on State Route 89A. Expect a crowd. Parking is limited. $30 per car with up to four adults (14 or older) on holiday weekends. 928-282-3034.
