Will a new stadium in Las Vegas lure the Oakland Raiders to the desert?

The new T-Mobile Arena is just a few months away from opening, but another, much bigger, sports venue may be in the works with an eye toward luring an NFL team.

Sheldon Adelson of Sands Corp. is at the helm of a group of investors proposing to build a $1.2 billion, 65,000-seat domed stadium on the campus of the University of Nevada Las Vegas, about a mile east of the Strip. The stadium would be used by the UNLV football team, as well as for concerts and other entertainment events, but the primary goal is to attract an NFL franchise, with talk focusing on the Oakland Raiders.

If the project is a go, construction would begin in 2017 and end in 2020.

Beer Park: A new bar called Beer Park has opened at Paris. Located above the Chateau nightclub, Beer Park features a 10,000-square-foot deck with an outdoor grill, picnic tables, food served from roaming carts and a selection of more than 100 beers.

Bikes: The Regional Transportation Commission has approved the building of 15 to 20 bicycle-docking stations to handle up to 200 bikes in Las Vegas’ first bike-sharing program, which will be implemented downtown. Rates have not been established, but the program is expected to be running by August.

Cable dispute: Las Vegas cable customers are sweating their ability to watch the Super Bowl thanks to to a contract dispute between Cox Cable and Channel 8, the channel airing the game. The problem could spill over to bars that use Cox, but you’ll be safe if you plan to watch in a casino sports book.
