Mercury hit road to face Tulsa Shock

Mercury update: Phoenix improved to 2-1 in overtime games this season with an 89-87 victory Tuesday over the Chicago Sky. G/F DeWanna Bonner scored a season-high 34 points, including eight in overtime, as the Mercury erased a 19-point deficit, tying a franchise record set in 1999. … Bonner has made her last 30 free-throw attempts, the second longest active streak in the WNBA and eight behind Penny Taylor's Mercury record of 38 in 2010. … Phoenix has improved its field-goal percentage by 5.8 percent over the last nine games, going from last in the league to third and now at 43.2 percent for the season. … The Mercury are 8-2 against the Shock in Tulsa and won the teams' first meeting this season, July 2 in Phoenix, by 31 points.

Shock update: The franchise recently announced it would be moving to the Dallas-Fort Worth area starting with the 2016 season, ending a tenure in Tulsa that began when the Shock relocated from Detroit in 2010. … The team has never made the playoffs in Tulsa after winning three WNBA championships in Detroit, and is currently a half game behind the Mercury for second place in the Western Conference. … The Shock are 2-7 since losing G Skylar Diggins for the season June 28 with a torn anterior-cruciate ligament. That stretch includes four straight losses leading up to last weekend's All-Star break. … F/C Plenette Pierson made her first career All-Star appearance in her 13th season, the most experience of any first-time All-Star in league history. … G Riquna Williams, who in Diggins' absence leads Tulsa with 14.7 points per game, was named an injury replacement for the West, also becoming an All-Star for the first time.
