FROM THE EDITOR

I've been looking to introduce myself.

As the new East Valley editor, I've talked with residents, gotten better acquainted with your stomping grounds and learned, often by trial and error, when to take the 202 or the 60 in the past month or so.

I've enjoyed such gems as Bergies coffee shop in downtown Gilbert and couldn't wait to go Inside the Bungalow in downtown Mesa.

My initial take: The East Valley is a vast area with passionate residents in unique and dynamic communities — and there are a whole lot more of you than me. So, please help me out.

I'd like hear more about what you want in your hometown newspaper. We've set up a survey for subscribers and other devoted readers, whether in print or digital. The survey will be available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/6PM6CDV through Friday, April 18.

Want to see more on a topic? Want to see certain types of features? More voices from a certain segment of the community? Now is the time to let us know.

The survey results will drive decisions as we update our community Republics; a makeover if you will.

I joined The Republic just before we launched the latest version of the community editions across the Valley. Nearly 10 years later, it's time to take another look, hear from you and do even better in the next decade delivering hard-hitting analysis, unforgettable moments and local news you can't find anywhere else.

My personal makeover was heading east after 10 years as a reporter and editor in the West Valley. I bring fresh eyes and a deep commitment to local news that impacts lives, creates change and builds better communities.

I appreciate the hospitality you've shown and I thank you for making The Republic part of your lives.
