Eight candidates will appear on the Aug. 26 ballot for three seats opening on the Scottsdale City Council next year.

The seats of Bob Littlefield, Linda Milhaven and Dennis Robbins expire in January. Milhaven and Robbins are seeking re-election.

Applications for early ballots were available as of May 25. To vote in the primary, residents must be registered to vote by July 28. Early voting begins July 31.

To be elected in the primary, a candidate needs a majority of all the legal votes cast for his or her race.

The city will have a general election Nov. 4 to fill any seats unfilled after the primary.
