Many people woke up to find downed trees, power lines and more Sunday morning, but the Valley might receive some more dicey weather this afternoon into the evening.

Extensive damage occurred around 40th Street and Greenway Road in north Phoenix after a microburst hit the area, according to the National Weather Service.

Downed power lines stretching into the roadway lined 40th Street Sunday morning. Whole trees were uprooted in the area with some landing on vehicles and structures.

A nearby batting-cage complex was flooded with murky brown water and covered by fallen poles and netting.

Valerie Meyers, a spokesman for the Weather Service, said a couple of microbursts probably occurred in the Valley overnight, but the one in north Phoenix was the most severe.

Utility officials said more than 25,000 people across Phoenix had no electricity.

A massive tree, seen on July 26, 2014, was uprooted in Phoenix the night before during a monsoon storm.

About 550 APS customers were still without power around 9:15 p.m. Sunday, according to a tweet from the company. Some people will have power restored during the night, and others will still be powerless Monday, the company said.

By 4 a.m. Monday, the company posted a statement on social media that said about 375 customers were still without power, which was revised 5:40 a.m. when the company said about 175 customers had not had power restored.

The company expected to have most customers' power restored sometime Monday as crews worked to repair lines and fallen poles, according to its statement. Alan Bunnell, an APS spokesman, said the remaining 173 customers without power are near the area of 40th Street and Greenway Road where the storm did the most damage.

The company also tweeted Sunday that it would reimburse those left without power for a 40 pound bag of ice or a 20 pound bag of dry ice if a receipt was sent to the APS post office box, at APS PO Box 53999, Sta 3536, Phoenix, 85072.

Salt River Project said nearly 10,000 households initially lost power late Saturday, and that power had been restored for all customers by 6 p.m. Sunday.

SRP spokesman Scott Harelson said most of the outages were relegated to eastern suburbs including Mesa, Apache Junction and Queen Creek.

The Weather Service ended its dust advisory for the Phoenix area around 6 a.m. Sunday.

There is a 60 percent chance of thunderstorms Monday in spots around the Valley, 12 News said.
