Ten Arizona businesses named finalists for ASU's 18th annual Spirit of Enterprise Awards

Ten businesses have been named finalists for the 18th annual Spirit of Enterprise Awards given by Arizona State University's W.P. Carey School of Business.

Update

The awards recognize firms for creating jobs, boosting the economy and delivering customer service. Winners will be announced at a luncheon Nov. 21 at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa in Phoenix.

The finalists are:

-- Clean Air Cab, an eco-friendly cab fleet in Mesa

-- Endless Entertainment, a Tempe events production and consulting company

-- Ersland Touch Landscape, a Phoenix landscape maintenance company

-- India Plaza/The Dhaba, a Tempe restaurant, marketplace and education center devoted to all things Indian

-- IO, a Phoenix firm focused on data-center technology

-- I-ology, a Scottsdale firm that offers web design and related services

-- The James Agency, an advertising and public relations agency in Scottsdale

-- Kitchell, a Phoenix commercial builder

-- Melrose Pharmacy, an independent pharmacy in Phoenix

-- Potter's House Apothecary, a Peoria pharmacy that specializes in compounding

Two finalists were also named for the Student Entrepreneurship Award. Anthony Gonzales, a recent graduate who is developing FITGuard, a mouthgard designed to indicate when an athlete should be removed from a game because of possible head injuries, was one of the student finalists. The other is Paige Corbett, who developed the idea of an online service that connects pet owners with pet sitters as an alternative to commercial boarding facilities.
