Weebly, a global website builder, has opened its new North American customer operations headquarters in downtown Scottsdale

Weebly plans to hire more than 200 people over the next three years with the aim of supporting more than 2 million customers from its 25,000-square-foot location at the Galleria Corporate Centre, 4301 N. Scottsdale Road. Those jobs include customer sales and support specialists, team leaders, trainers, quality assurance and other positions.

The company held an official opening ceremony Nov. 6.

The company has signed a five-year office lease at the building.

The San Francisco-based startup company, which hosts 25 million sites, offers bloggers and businesses designs and publishing tools to create websites.

Weebly co-founder David Rusenko said this past summer in announcing the move that the city and proximity to Arizona State University were factors in the decision.

"It was important that this office represent our larger mission, which is to inspire entrepreneurship. Scottsdale is a great opportunity to recruit passionate people who want to be part of something larger," he said then.

The company is among a growing number of build-your-own-Web companies such as Squarespace and Wix offering affordable, easy-to-use publishing tools that are answering a demand among retailers and small businesses.

Weebly recently introduced a blogging URL structure to improve search engine optimization and user experience, reported CMS Critic, a news and reviews site for content management systems.
