Coyotes left wing Mikkel Boedker (89) against the Winnipeg Jets in their NHL game Tuesday, April 1, 2014 in Glendale.

Mikkel Boedker

Position: Left wing.

Age: 24.

Last season

The Coyotes and Boedker struggled to hammer out a new contract, finally agreeing on a two-year deal worth $5.1 million only days before training camp started, and Boedker certainly proved his worth in Year 1 of that contract. He produced the best offensive season of his career, finishing with career-highs in goals (19), assists (32) and points (51) while playing in all 82 games. What's more, he largely cut inconsistency out of his play and was extremely versatile, playing on the left side and the right.

2014-15 outlook

Since he's in the final year of a contract, Boedker should be motivated to improve on last season's production and land a more lucrative contract. It's still unclear where he'll line up, but he's had proven success with center Antoine Vermette and captain Shane Doan. He could also become more of a contributor on the power play with the departures of Radim Vrbata and Mike Ribeiro. Reaching the 20-goal plateau for the first time isn't unrealistic.

Camp focus

Boedker will learn his linemates as camp progresses, but it's a safe bet he could see time in the preseason next to Vermette and Doan. New center Sam Gagner could also be an option. For now, though, Boedker's committed to fine-tuning his personal skill set.

"Right now my main focus is just feeling the puck and getting all my imagination back and just the small little things, little details in the game," he said.
