Media in Education

Beginning in 2017, The Arizona Republic/azcentral.com’s Media in Education program will sponsor a media innovation summer camp for high-school students in conjunction with Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. The camp will encourage students to think of new ways of creating and distributing news content while upholding the industry’s highest standards. ASU will begin accepting applications for the innovation camp in January 2017.

MIE funds also support an investigative reporting fellowship for one student a year at ASU’s Cronkite School. The fellowship honors Republic reporter Don Bolles, who was mortally wounded in a car explosion 40 years ago.

Finally, the MIE program offers classroom fundraising opportunities and free digital subscriptions for classrooms.

For more details about these programs, call Stacy Sullivan at 602-444-8749 or go to pages.azcdigital.com/mie.

MIE expenses are underwritten by The Republic/azcentral.com and are supported by subscribers taking part in our Vacation Donation program. When stopping their subscription temporarily for a vacation, these subscribers donate the credit for their stopped newspapers to MIE. For more information about the Vacation Donation Program, call 602-444-1000, or 800-332-6733.
