Montini: Doug Ducey do-si-dos, again, to the tune of billionaire dark money Koch brothers

Gov. Doug Ducey has been answering to the square-dance call of billionaires David and Charles Koch since before he was elected to Arizona’s top political job.

He’s back at it this weekend, doing a little do-si-do with a bunch of other politicians and wealthy political handlers at the Koch brothers annual weekend event, where the big money boys call the tune and order the steps and politicians dance.

Just about four years ago Ducey gave a fawning speech at one such event in which he said in part, "I want to say thank you to Charles and David as well. I have been coming to this conference for years. It's been very inspirational."

You know what inspires politicians?

Money.

Some in direct contributions. A lot more by way of untraceable “dark money” groups, for which the Kochs are king. Ducey’s chief of staff, Kirk Adams, knows all about such operations, having run one.

The political dancers are even more willing to strut their stuff to the Koch brothers’ tune this year, knowing that the brothers (already among the top ten wealthiest Americans) are about to get even richer.

An analysis by Americans for Tax Fairness says the Kochs and/or their companies could save between $1 billion and $1.4 billion combined in income taxes each year from the Trump tax law.

You don’t have to be elected, like Donald Trump, to have power.

He’s one politician.

The Koch boys can fill a dance floor with dozens of fawning elected officials. And when the brothers put on the music and shout, “Swing your partners!” … the politicians do just that.

Round and round and round.
