2 people critically injured after horse-drawn stagecoach hits vehicles at rodeo

The two people were taken to a local hospital in critical condition, officials said.

Two people were critically injured at the Lost Dutchman Days Rodeo in Apache Junction when a horse-drawn stagecoach hit multiple vehicles on Saturday, officials said.

Those injured were taken to a nearby hospital in "serious condition" following the incident, the Superstition Fire and Medical District said in a tweet just before 4:45 p.m.

The horses were walked from the scene to be evaluated by their owners, the tweet said.

According to the rodeo website, the three-day event began on Friday and was slated to last through Sunday.

It wasn't clear whether the incident would affect rodeo events or what caused the collision. No further details were immediately available. 

The two people were taken to a local hospital in critical condition, officials said.
