Illness forces diva to bow out of Scottsdale concert; Tony winner to fill in

Christine Ebersole has won two Tony Awards.

One diva is out and another diva is in at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts. 

Broadway star Laura Benanti, who was scheduled to perform at the theater on Saturday, March 17, has canceled, according to a statement issued by the venue. 

"Due to Laura Benanti's young daughter being hospitalized with the flu, we regret to inform you that Benanti will no longer be able to perform," reads the statement, which was emailed on Wednesday evening.

Now performing instead: Christine Ebersole, a two-time Tony winner for "Grey Gardens" and "42nd Street." She also was a regular on "Saturday Night Live" for one season beginning in 1981, and has had regular roles on "Sullivan & Son" and "Royal Pains."
