Emily Javier makes a first appearance in Clark County Superior Court on March 5, 2018, in Vancouver, Wash.

A Washington man was sound asleep when police said his girlfriend pulled out a samurai sword and tried to kill him in a premeditated revenge plot.

Alex Lovell, the victim, told an Oregon media outlet he was able to fight off his girlfriend and convince her to call for help.

It's a tale of infidelity accusations, video games, and chopped off body parts.

“I was just so proud for beating this samurai wannabe crazy lady with hate in her heart,” Lovell, 29, told Oregon Live. “I’ve been preparing my whole life for something like this."

What happened?

His girlfriend, Emily Javier, waited for Lovell to fall asleep at their Camas home on March 2, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by the Washington Post.

The 30-year-old hid her boyfriend’s phone so he couldn’t call for help.

Her motive? Lovell spent too much time playing video games, she told police in the affidavit. Javier also claimed he was unfaithful after finding Tinder on his phone, scratches on his back and red hair in the shower drain.

Her hair was dyed green.

Javier didn’t confront Lovell about the alleged infidelity, she told police. She believed he would just deny it, according to the arrest affidavit.

Instead, Javier is accused of hatching a plan to kill him.

Once her boyfriend fell asleep, Javier reached for the samurai sword she bought at the mall a week earlier. It was taped to the side of their bed, along with two knives, according to the arrest affidavit.

In the pitch black of the bedroom they shared, Javier told police she used her phone's light to "illuminate Lovell".

“I was trying to kill him for cheating,” Javier is quoted in the affidavit as telling police. “That was my purpose.”

Survival instincts

Lovell woke up to Javier trying to slaughter him, police said.

A Washington man whose girlfriend allegedly tried to slice him with a samurai sword said the grisly attack “scared the poop” out of him.

The victim said his survival instincts kicked in, drawing from his martial arts training and a lifetime love of Kung Fu films.

“I was able to wing chun my way to survival,” Lovell told Oregon Live, referring to a traditional form of Chinese Kung Fu that specializes in close range combat.

He told the publication he was able to wrap her in a bear hug and convince her to call for help.

Javier called 911 and told the dispatcher she “thought (Lovell) was dead,” according to the arrest affidavit.

He was badly injured

Javier was charged with first-degree attempted murder, according to the Clark County Jail roster. She is being held on $350,000 bail.

A Samurai sword

Lovell suffered life-threatening injuries, police said.

Doctors were able to reattach his index, middle and ring finger, he told Oregon Live. He also said there are deep wounds on his feet and legs with lacerations on his torso, neck, and head.

The gaming community has raised more than $8,000 for Lovell's medical expenses.
