Celebrate on the cheap: Best Phoenix deals on National Margarita Day, Feb. 22

The 6th Street margarita at Z'Tejas.

In Arizona, the margarita is pretty much our unofficial state cocktail.

Thursday, Feb. 22, is National Margarita Day, and restaurants across Phoenix are offering great deals on the tequila-based cocktails.

The exact origin of the margarita is unknown. Some say it dates to 1938, invented by Carlos "Danny" Herrera at his Tijuana-area restaurant, Rancho La Gloria. Others say Francisco "Pancho" Morales came up with the concoction in 1942 at Tommy's Place Bar in Texas.

It's more fun to debate over a discounted drink at one of these Valley restaurants celebrating National Margarita Day.
