Tuvok rides on the back of his mom, Tasha, July 29, 2016, in the Monkey Village at the Phoenix Zoo, 455 N Galvin Parkway, Phoenix. Tuvok, a squirrel monkey, was born on July 15, the first baby monkey at the zoo in almost nine years.

Think human kids can be clingy to their parents? The Phoenix Zoo's newest squirrel monkey will stay on his mother's back for the first five to 10 weeks of his life.

Tuvok (yes, it's a "Star Trek" reference) was born July 15 and is now spending some time out in the Monkey Village exhibit with his mom, Tasha, after getting acclimated to the night house.

He'll begin to venture out and start climbing after 10 weeks, and by 10 months old, Tuvok be independent but still spend time with the family group, according to the Phoenix Zoo.

The Monkey Village walk-through is open 8 a.m.-noon daily, but you can still catch a glimpse of them on pathway overlooking the habitat during zoo hours.
