Letter: Republic ignored the history-making story

Betsy Webb
President Obama introduced Democratic Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton at Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia on Wednesday, July 27, 2016.

As a daily newspaper subscriber and reader, I looked forward to reading about history being made at the Democratic National Convention Wednesday night. I was shocked and disappointed that the headline "First woman nominated by political party to be president of the United States" was NOT on the front page in large type.

Bill Clinton's speech was a part of the evening, but much more than that, my mother (born in 1920), my daughters (born in the 1980s) and I (a baby boomer) all witnessed history.

In our lifetimes, a woman has become a presidential nominee. What a great nation! Please recognize the glory of this moment and put Bill and the other guys on page 2.
