Channel 10 (KSAZ) announced on Wednesday that Marc Martinez has been promoted to weeknight anchor, taking over for Troy Hayden.

“Marc is a gifted storyteller with strong connections throughout the community," Doug Bannard, station vice president and news director, said in a news release. "His experience in the studio and reporting in the field make him the ideal candidate to take over our evening newscasts.”

Martinez, who joined the station in 2002, has a journalism degree from Washington State University. He worked for stations in Las Vegas and Fresno, Calif., before coming to the Fox affiliate. A familiar face at Channel 10, he has served as co-anchor of the weekend editions of the station's newscasts for the past decade.

“I am thrilled to take on this new, exciting role at Fox 10," Martinez said in a press release. "I love Arizona and the viewers who I’ve gotten to know while covering stories across the state over the past 14 years.”

The change is effective immediately, with Martinez anchoring the 6 and 10 p.m. broadcasts alongside weatherman Dave Munsey and sports director Jude La Cava.
