Survey: L'Auberge is top hotel in Arizona, New Mexico

Looking for a luxurious fall getaway? In Arizona, your best bet could be L'Auberge de Sedona, according to the readers of Conde Nast Traveler.

L'Auberge, known for its creekside cottages, ranked No. 1 among hotels in the American Southwest category in the magazine's annual Readers' Choice Awards. The category includes hotels and resorts in Arizona and New Mexico.

"Among Sedona’s adobe facades and New Age-y crystal shops, the 15 creekside cabins at this boutique resort seem like visitors from another planet,'' the magazine says.

Conde Nast says the best features at the resort, fresh off a $12 million renovation, are outside each room: an outdoor shower and large deck.

But don't assume other Arizona hotels and resorts were overlooked. Conde Nast slices and dices the results into numerous categories, including top resorts in the country and top resorts in Texas and the Southwest, and Arizona resorts and hotels were well represented in those categories. The lists are a great place to start planning next summer's bargain resort stay in Arizona.
