Gilbert was ranked among one of the worst foodie cities in America.

While Arizona has a lot to be proud of in terms of food and dining, some cities don't always land on the top when it comes to their culinary prowess.

Wallethub recently released its list of "2016 Best & Worst Foodie Cities" in America, and out of 150 of the most populated cities, Peoria landed in the 130 spot and Gilbert at 125.

The personal finance website's study looked at 21 key metrics, including grocery cost, number of food festivals per capita, ratio of full-service to fast-food restaurants, cooking schools per 100,000 residents, and accessibility and affordability of high-quality restaurants.

Gilbert's ranking was highlighted with this statistic: "Miami has the most gourmet specialty-food stores per 100,000 residents, 117.46, which is 14.5 times more than in Gilbert, Ariz., the city with the fewest, 8.08."

Three Arizona cities fared much better in overall ranking: Scottsdale came in at 22,Tempe at 30 andTucson at 35.

Here's how some other Arizona cities landed on the list: Phoenix, 85; Chandler, 93; Mesa, 97; and Glendale, 112.
