94-year-old woman abducted from Scottsdale home, left in trunk

A Scottsdale woman who was abducted from her home was able to free herself from the trunk of her car at around 1:30 p.m., according to police. The car was in the parking lot at Scottsdale Fashion Square mall, near where she had been kidnapped, police said.

A 94-year-old woman was kidnapped during a home invasion, then left in the trunk of her car early Tuesday, Scottsdale police said.

Police said the woman was taken at 6 a.m. from her home near 68th Street and Camelback Road after a man forced his way into her residence.

The man bound her and placed her in the trunk of her car before the man drove it away, then abandoned it, police said. 

The woman was able to free herself from the trunk of the car at around 1:30 p.m., according to police. The car was in the parking lot at Scottsdale Fashion Square mall, near where she had been kidnapped, police said.

Officials said the woman was taken to a hospital after a passerby saw her and called 911.

The Scottsdale Police Department said they are still in the early stages of the investigation and will provide additional updates as they become available.
