Police: Arrest made in Phoenix house-party homicide

Phoenix police have arrested a man in connection with a homicide that occurred at a house party in west Phoenix early Sunday morning, officials said.

Malik Berkely, 20, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of shooting and killing 19-year-old Jermonee Tolliver Moore at a residence near 103rd and Campbell avenues, police said.

Three other men were injured by gunfire, according to Phoenix police Sgt. Mercedes Fortune.

According to officials, witnesses reported that several people were asked to leave after getting into a fight at a party.

About 2 a.m., Berkely arrived and shot numerous times at the house, Fortune said.

Moore was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel, while the other victims were treated for serious injuries.

Berkely was arrested and booked on one count of second-degree murder, three counts of aggravated assault and one count of endangerment.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
