President-elect Donald Trump, who will be sworn into office on Friday, has tapped Arizona's Stephanie Grisham to serve as a special assistant.

Grisham, of Gilbert, will also serve as a White House deputy press secretary.

Grisham, 39, has been living in New York for the past eight months or so, taking a leave from her job as spokeswoman for the Republicans in the Arizona House of Representatives to help Trump. Prior to that, she worked as the spokeswoman for Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne.

"It has been such an honor to work for President-elect Trump for the past 16 months," Grisham told The Arizona Republic. "I miss Arizona already, but am excited and grateful to serve my country."

Well-known around the state Capitol and in Arizona political circles, Grisham was one of Trump's early Arizona staffers. She helped arrange his campaign stops in Phoenix and around the state and region throughout the primary, a role that quickly expanded to include his rallies around the U.S.

After his victory, Grisham was named a special adviser for operations and has been serving on Trump's transition team.
