Ask Clay: Where do you stand on holes in your shirts or yams on your table?

Here's an unusual theory on why you get holes in shirts.

Today’s question:

Why do my T-shirts have tiny little holes on the lower front bottom, center? It looks like something is chewing holes.

I bet you thought I wouldn’t be able to find an answer to this one. I didn’t think so either, but I did. Or at least I think I did. And I am pretty sure some of you people will want to argue about it.

There are a few obvious possibilities, such as moths or cat’s claws or bleach spills.

Here is one I didn’t think of I until I found it at several sites online.

It might depend on your height or posture, but it is entirely possible that the bottom of your T-shirt is rubbing up between a belt buckle or button and the edge of your desk or a kitchen counter.

If you tend to spend a lot of time in such places, that explanation is entirely possible.

And if your shirt is made of poor quality fabric or with shoddy workmanship it might take just one or two loose threads to get the process started.

Neat answer, huh?

What is the difference between a sweet potato and a yam?

As far as I am concerned, there is no difference because I don’t like either one of them, even with little melted marshmallows.

For starters, they're two different plants. Sweet potatoes are related to the morning glory family and are native to the Western Hemisphere.

Yams are related to palms and grasses and are native to Asia.

If you insist on eating them, yams are starchy and dry and sweet potatoes are moist and wet.
