I’m not sure President Trump will see them. Or if he will have the nerve to look them in the eye.

Or if he will have the gumption to refer to their custodial-worker mom as a “bad hombre.”

But they’ll see him.

The children of Guadalupe Garcia de Rayos, the deported mother from Phoenix, have been invited to Trump speech Tuesday as the guests of Democratic Reps. Ruben Gallego and Raul Grijalva.

Good for them.

This is exactly the kind of thing the congressmen should be doing.

Let him know: Tough policy has consequences

Guadalupe Garcia de Rayos with her daughter Jacqueline and her son Angel.

A tough-talking policy has human consequences.

In this case, the negative impact on a 14-year-old American girl and her 16-year-old American brother, Jacqueline Rayos Garcia and Angel Rayos Garcia.

According to a statement by Gallego, “Congressman Grijalva and I invited Angel (Garcia de Rayos) and his sister Jaqueline (Garcia de Rayos) to the address because we believe it is important for Donald Trump to face the people who have been victimized by his disastrous policies.”

Grijalva added, “Their example is a bright light of hope for immigrant communities across this country who are fearful that Trump will come for them next. Their fight is all of our fight, and I am proud to stand side-by-side with them in opposition to these atrocious policies.”

The human consequences of the immigration debate are severe.

The law allows for mass deportations. The law allows the government to be indiscriminate, to deport hard-core criminals and mothers who work for minimum wage to support their American children.

Seeing the children of Guadalupe Garcia de Rayos, recognizing their pain, might goad us into making better choices, more humane choices, more American choices, between what we can do and what we should do.
