Phoenix teen recreates 'La La Land' intro to invite Emma Stone to prom
A 17-year-old Phoenix boy has made a video inviting Emma Stone to his prom, recreating the opening scene from 'La La Land.'

Jacob Staudenmaier is a budding filmmaker, a huge movie fan and really likes Emma Stone.
So he asked her to prom.
Granted, Jacob is a 17-year-old junior at Arcadia High School, and Stone, who grew up in Scottsdale, is a 28-year-old actress fresh off an Academy Award-win for her work in “La La Land.” But that didn’t stop Jacob.
Along with several friends who served as extras, he recreated the opening scene from the film (the dance number on a choked-with-traffic LA freeway), rewrote the lyrics to invite Stone and posted it on Twitter. It’s already gotten more than 1,500 likes, nearly 1,000 retweets and a lot of buzz.
“It’s going better than expected,” Jacob said.

“It started with the kind of crazy idea of saying, ‘Yeah, maybe I’ll go with Emma Stone to the prom,’” he said. “I decided if I was going to do this, I really needed to do it big.”
He filmed it Sunday, with the help of friends, in a couple of hours.
As for Stone, “I haven’t heard anything specifically from her. I’ve heard a rumor and sort of a confirmed truth that her mom has seen it. I assume at some point it will get to her.”

And if she calls?
“I guess I’ll just have to handle it on the fly,” he said. “Just roll with it and go with the flow.”
By the way, if she doesn’t respond, or declines the invitation, Jacob has a back-up prom plan.
“I have this girl that I know that says she’d love to go,” he said. “Even if Emma says yes she said she would be completely fine with that.”
So he might end up with two dates to the prom, one of them being Emma Stone?
“That’s not a bad way to do it,” he said. “That’s a pretty good night.”
