It is folly to claim that something ridiculous said by President Donald Trump is the most ridiculous thing ever said by Trump.
Unless you add the word … today.
But Trump's defense of accused abusers like his former aide Rob Porter – facing domestic abuse claims by two ex-wives (Did you see the black eye photos?) – is just about as ridiculous as Trump gets.
Today.
The president tweeted:
Due process? Who is this guy kidding?
This is the man who spouted the conspiracy theories about former President Barack Obama’s birth certificate. (He hasn't quit.)
Conspiracy monger in chief
This is the candidate who tried to link presidential rival Ted Cruz’s father to JFK assassin Lee Harvey Oswald.
Trump has spouted conspiracy theories about the death of Clinton aide Vince Foster and the death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.
He said Muslims in New Jersey cheered after the attacks of 9/11.
Perhaps the best example of Trump’s total disdain for due process is the $100,000 newspaper ad calling for the execution of five young African American men accused of raping and beating a white woman jogger.
The real culprit was found and the young men were exonerated and Trump still claims their guilty.
Even when there's rock solid proof of due process he doesn't believe in due process. Except for accused abusers of women.
A 'boys will be boys' attitude
Trump whines about due process for his aide and for his friend, casino mogul and Republican fundraiser Steve Wynn, who resigned his CEO position as well as his position as Republican National Committee finance chair after The Wall Street Journal reported multiple allegations of sexual harassment by women.
For men like Porter and Wynn the president, who bragged about being able to grab women by the crotch, wants due process.
Have you heard anything more ridiculous than that?
