Flagstaff Hotshots rescue deer fawns from Goodwin Fire

Firefighters battling the Goodwin Fire near Prescott on Friday evening saved two deer fawns who were in danger of being harmed by the blaze, the U.S. Forest Service said.

Members of the Flagstaff Hotshots were combating the 25,000-acre fire when they saw the fawns, picked them up and rescued them.

The Hotshots carried the fawns away from the wildfire and transferred them to an unaffected habitat to be reunited with their mother, officials said in a Facebook post

More than 1,200 personnel are combating the Goodwin Fire, which as of Saturday afternoon was 44 percent contained.

Officials expect the fire to be fully contained by July 4.
