Montini: Will Trump trash McCain and Flake then pardon Arpaio at Phoenix rally?

Tuesday’s rally will be an opportunity for President Donald Trump to kill two political birds with one stone and set free one jailbird.

If Trump acts like Trump at the planned rally in Phoenix – and when has he not? – the president could use the local platform to trash Sens. John McCain and Jeff Flake, each of whom has been critical of him, and top off the evening by sticking it to the Latino community and all of his other critics by announcing a pardon for former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who stands convicted of criminal contempt.

Boom.

Boom.

And boom.

I’d expect Arpaio and former Gov. Jan Brewer to be there, and all of the other political Trump lackeys in town.

But what will Gov. Doug “Duck and Cover” Ducey do?

Will he appear on stage with Trump or will he find some lame excuse not to be there, hoping not to offend either those who support the president or those who don’t?

Or will he … you know … take a stand?

Any stand.
